Mercier & Valez has added cross-border M&A partner Clive Elssap to its Corporate and M&A team in London, continuing the firm's investment in integrated transatlantic deal teams.

Elssap joins as a partner from the London office of a US-headquartered global firm. He is the third corporate partner to join Mercier & Valez this year, following additions in New York and Singapore.

Dual-qualified in England and Wales and New York, Elssap advises private equity sponsors and strategic buyers on cross-border mid-market and upper mid-market transactions between the US, the UK and continental Europe. His work focuses on inbound US acquisitions into the UK and Europe, and on first-time US platform investments by UK and European sponsors. His sector experience covers tech-enabled business services, healthcare services and the energy transition.

Elssap has led transactions including a US sponsor's acquisition of a UK-headquartered healthcare services group operating in five European countries, a London-based sponsor's first US platform investment, and a NYSE-listed industrial group's carve-out acquisition of a European energy-efficiency business. He studied law at the University of Bristol and holds an LLM from Columbia Law School.
